Biography
Winckler: Johann Heinrich W., Philosoph wolffianischer Richtung, geboren am 12. März 1703 zu Wingendorf in der Oberlausitz, wurde 1739 außerordentlicher, 1742 ordentlicher Professor an der Universität in Leipzig, woselbst er im J. 1770 starb. Goethe hat als Leipziger Student bei W. Vorlesungen gehört. (Vgl. Wahrheit und Dichtung, Buch VI.) Unter den Schriften Winckler's sind am bekanntesten die „Institutiones Philosophiae Wolfianae utriusque, contemplativae et activae, usibus academicis accommodatae“ (Lips. 1735).
