Biography
Rothmund: Franz Christoph von R., angesehener Chirurg in München, geboren am 28. December 1801, bildete sich in Würzburg als Schüler|v. Döllinger's, v. Textor's, Schönlein's und in Berlin v. Gräfe's aus. 1823 promovirt, wurde er zuerst Gerichtsarzt in Miltenberg, dann in Volkach, nach 20jähriger Thätigkeit in dieser Stellung jedoch 1843 Professor in München, Director der I. chirurgischen Abtheilung, dann Obermedicinalrath daselbst, trat 1871 in den Ruhestand und starb als Nestor der deutschen Chirurgen, nahezu 90jährig, am 30. November 1891. Seine hauptsächlichsten Arbeiten handelten über Radikaloperation der Hernien u. s. w.; aber auch über allgemeinere Themata (z. B. Todesstrafe).
