Wuchs in einem politisch engagierten Elternhaus auf ; lebte nach 1933 im Exil und wirkte im Widerstand. 1941 bringt das Schiff "Serpa Pinto" sie und ihren Lebensgefährten und späteren Ehemann Walter Janka nach Mexiko ; dort gründet sie mit Walter Janka den Verlag "El Libro Libre". 1947 kehrt sie mit ihrem Mann nach Berlin (Ost) zurück ; als ihr Mann 1956 verhaftet wurde ; fiel auch sie in der DDR in Ungnade ; sie arbeitete bis zuletzt als Übersetzerin.
