  • Biography

    Johannes von Thilrode, Mönch des Klosters Saint-Bavon in Gent, hat um das J. 1294 aus zahlreichen Quellen mit großem Fleiß, doch ohne viel Geschick eine Chronik compilirt und dieselbe noch bis 1298 fortgeführt. Sie hat für uns Werth durch einige aus verlorenen Quellen erhaltene Nachrichten, im letzten Theil aber durch Mittheilungen über die Zeitgeschichte, welche vorzüglich Brabant, Flandern und Holland betreffen, doch auch weiter sich erstrecken. Die erste kritisch durchgearbeitete Ausgabe hat nach dem noch erhaltenen Autograph Joh. Heller gegeben, Mon. Germ. SS. XXV, 557—584.
