Biography
Bostius: Arnold B., auch Arnold v. Vaernewyck, geb. in Flandern, † 4. April 1499 zu Gent, ein Karmeliter, der unter den hervorragenden Gelehrten seiner Zeit, wie Tritheim, Hermoläus Barbarus, Rob. Gaguin u. A. großes Ansehen genoß. Er schrieb: „De immaculata conceptione Virginis Deiparae contra Vincentium a Novo Castro, dominicanum"; „De patronatu B. Virginis Mariae lib. unus carmine et prosa scr.“ (gedruckt im Tom. II des Specul. Carmelit.). „Breviloquium tripartitum de institutione, intitulatione ac conformatione ordinis Deiparae Virginis Mariae de Monte Carmelo“ (gedruckt in der Vinea Carmeli 1662). „De illustribus viris ordinis Beat. Dei Genitr. Virg. Mariae de Monte Carmelo“ (im Spec. Carmelit. Tom. II). „De illustribus viris Carthusiensium“, gedruckt zu Köln 1609. „Carmina diversa“ etc. Biogr. nat. de Belg.
