  • Biography

    Apostole: Petrus A. (Apostocle, Lapostole), geb. von angesehener Familie zu Doornik um 1466, † zu Mecheln 20. April 1532. Zu Löwen ward er 15. October 1492 zum Doctor der Rechte promovirt, erhielt bald darauf eine Professur und 1496 die erste Professur des Civilrechts, war auch mehrmals Rector. 1502 ernannte ihn Philipp der Schöne als Rekenmeester zum Mitglied seines Geheimenraths, doch blieb er daneben Professor in Löwen bis 1508, wo er bei definitiver Errichtung des großen Rathes, d. h. des obersten Gerichtshofes in Mecheln, zum Mitglied desselben ernannt ward. Er genoß in dieser Stellung als Richter, Staatsmann und Gelehrter ein hohes Ansehen. 1531 zog er sich Alters halber zurück.
