    Aa: Philipp van der Aa, oranischer Staatsmann, geb. zu Mecheln, † nach 1586. Als Bürgermeister von Mecheln verbannt, kehrte er mit Wilhelm von Oranien, bei dem er in großem Vertrauen stand, zurück. 1572 bemächtigte er sich Mechelns durch List; der Prinz ordnete ihn 1573 dem Sonoy als Rath bei und ernannte ihn 1575 zum Befehlshaber in Borkum. — (v.
