Biography
Wolf(f): Johann W., Arzt und Professor der Medicin im 16. Jahrhundert, wurde am 10. August 1537 zu Bergzabern geboren und machte vermuthlich seine Studien in Marburg. 1578 erhielt er die Stellung als Leibarzt des Landgrafen von Hessen und Professor der Medicin an der Universität zu Marburg, wo er am 1. Juni 1616 starb. W. ist Verfasser einer balneologischen Schrift über Wildlingen mit dem Titel: „De acidulis Wildungensibus earumque mineris, natura, viribus ac usus ratione brevis explicatio“ (Marburg 1580). Lin angebliches Geheimmittel gegen „innere Hämorrhoiden“, das wahrscheinlich|nur aus einer Leinkrautsalbe bestand, kaufte ihm sein fürstlicher Gönner für eine lebenslängliche jährliche Pension ab.
