Biography
Ammon: Andreas Gottfried A., geb. 22. Nov. 1635 zu Göttingen, wurde 1658 Conrector zu Göttingen, 1663 Rector zu Güstrow, dann zu Stettin, ließ sich 1670 zum Licent. theol. promoviren und starb 1686 als Superintendent zu Wunstorp. — Ueber seine Streitigkeiten während seines Rectorats zu Stettin mit dem Professor C. T. Rango, der ihn syncretistischer Irrlehre beschuldigte, aber deshalb seiner Stelle enthoben ward, vgl. J. H. Balthasar's „Sammlungen zur Pommerschen Kirchenhistorie“ etc. II. 798. Unter den Schriften Ammon's (cfr. Jöcher; Adelung v. Ammonius) sind hervorzuheben: „Argumentum libri I. Ethicorum Aristotelis“, Helmst. 1672; „Elementa rhetoricae Aristotelis“, Helmst. 1675; „Progr. de historia Pomeraniae paedagogicae“, Stettin, 1667.
