    Stoz: Matthäus St., Jesuit, † am 13. Febr. 1678, war Professor in Ebersberg, dann Professor der scholastischen Theologie in Freiburg im Breisgau, wo über seine Nachlässigkeit und seinen unerbaulichen Lebenswandel (Trunksucht) geklagt wurde. Er hat eine „Instructio et praxis recte et expedite confitendi“ 1661 geschrieben. Eine Umarbeitung dieser Schrift wurde von seinem Bruder Johann vollendet und herausgegeben unter dem Titel: „Tribunal poenitentiae s. libri duo, prior de poenitente ut reo, posterior de confessore ut judice, auctore M. St. inchoatum, opera germani ex eadem societate perfectum totoque secundo libro auctum“, schon 1683 approbirt, aber erst 1701 gedruckt, neu aufgelegt 1739 und 1756. — Johann St., geb. zu Augsburg, 1653 Professor in Ingolstadt, hat nur noch eine kurze „Relatio historica de gestis in Concilio Tridentino“ (nach Pallavicini) 1695, veröffentlicht.
