    Stegmayer: Matthias St., geboren in Wien am 29. April 1771, † ebenda am 10. Mai 1810, war erst Musiker, dann Schauspieler; als solcher kam er 1792 an das von Karl Mayer 1790 in der Josephstadt gegründete Volkstheater, ging 1796 an das Schikaneder'sche Freihaustheater, wo er als Praterwirth im berühmten „Tiroler Wastel“ debutirte, wurde 1800 Hofschauspieler und ging 1804 ans Theater an der Wien. Er war ein tüchtiger Komiker, auch ein verwendbarer, vielseitiger Componist; sein berühmtestes Stück war wohl die Posse „Rochus Pumpernickel“, 1809 nach Kotzebue's „Pachter Feldkümmel“ geschrieben.
