  • Biography

    Socher: Anton S., Jesuit, geboren am 5. September 1695, † zu Wien am 18. März 1771. Er wurde, nachdem er einige Zeit in anderer Weise im Orden thätig gewesen war, zum Historiographen der österreichischen Provinz ernannt. Von seiner „Historia provinciae Austriae S. J.“ ist nur der erste Band (1740) erschienen, der bis 1590 geht. Außerdem sind von S. nur einige lateinische Reden, u. a. eine Leichenrede auf Karl VI. (1740), gedruckt.
