    Ambrosy: Johann Baptist A., geb. 5. April 1741 zu Selnitz im Liptauer Comitate, † 22. Febr. 1796; erhielt seinen Unterricht zu Nagy Palugya, Neusohl, Leutschau, Debreczin und Preßburg und studirte dann in Wien und in Halle Theologie. Von Franke sehr geschätzt war er im Unterrichten thätig und besorgte die Correctur der böhmischen Bibel, die auf Kosten der böhmischen Gemeinde in Berlin gedruckt wurde. Diese Gemeinde stellte ihn im J. 1756 als zweiten Prediger an und er blieb in dieser Stelle bis 1770, in welchem Jahre ihn die Havelberger Gemeinde zum ersten Prediger und Inspector erwählte. Am 22. März 1773 aber wurde er Prediger bei St. Gertrud in Berlin. Er ist geschätzt als Mensch und Redner und war Verfasser zahlreicher theologischer und Erbauungsschriften. — Vgl. Meusel, Lex. — Biogr.
