Biography
Brüggemann: Otto B., geb. 20. Febr. 1600 zu Hamburg, wurde Kaufmann, vertrauter Rath bei Herzog Friedrich von Holstein-Gottorp und ging in wichtiger Gesandtschaft mit übergroßem Gefolge, darunter der Dichter Paul Fleming als Gesandtschaftsarzt, Adam Olearius als Gesandtschaftsrath und Secretär, und Ritter v. Mandelsloh als Gesandtschaftscavalier, zur Vermittlung von Handelsverträgen nach Moskau und Persien. Die Reise dauerte vom 22. Oct. 1633 bis 1. Aug. 1639, von denen drei Jahre in Ispahan verlebt wurden. Nach der Heimkehr wurde er in schwerer Klage wegen Amtsmißbrauch zum Strange verurtheilt, aber zum Schwerte begnadigt, am 5. Mai 1640 hingerichtet.
