Biographical Presentation
A. war Schüler von H. Anschütz und A. von Ramberg an der Münchner Akademie. Mit W. Leibl befreundet, gehörte er in technischer und koloristischer Beziehung zu diesem Kreise, wovon eine Reihe von Bildern zeugen, u. a. R. Hirth im Atelier (Nationalgalerie Berlin), Schlafendes Kind (Kestner Museum Hannover), auch Porträts, Interieurs (Leibls Atelier) und Stillleben. In späteren Jahren malte er in Rothenburg und Ansbach Landschaften und Stadtbilder, meist in Aquarell.
