  • Biography

    Nahl: Johann Samuel N., Bildhauer, Sohn des Matthias N., geb. 1664 zu Ansbach. Er erlernte die Anfangsgründe seiner Kunst bei Raenz d. ä.|in Baireuth, wurde später Hofbildhauer, Ehrenmitglied und Rector der Akademie der Künste in Berlin. Er verfertigte Bildwerke in Gips, den er wetterfest zu machen verstand. Sein Hauptwerk in Stein ist das Piedestal der Reiterstatue des Großen Kurfürsten auf der Langen Brücke zu Berlin. N. verließ Berlin 1718, begab sich nach Sachsen, wo er in mehreren Städten arbeitete und starb 1727 zu Jena.
