  • Biography

    Moldenhawer: Johann Jacob Paul M., Bruder des Daniel Gotthilf M., war geboren in Hamburg den 11. Februar 1766. Er widmete sich erst dem theologischen Studium und lebte als Cand. theol. in Kopenhagen, fühlte|sich aber mehr und mehr von den naturwissenschaftlichen Studien angezogen und gab sich ganz denselben hin. Nach dem von ihm erschienenen „Tentamen in historiam plantarum Theophrasti“, Hamb. 1791, ward er 1792 als außerordentlicher Professor der Philosophie an die Universität Kiel berufen, wo er bis an sein Ende verblieb. Er veröffentlichte hier „Beiträge zur Anatomie der Pflanzen. Mit 6 Kupfern“, 1812, die sein Hauptwerk sind. 1813 ward er Ritter vom Danebrog, 1824 königlicher Justizrath. Er starb am 21. August 1827.
