  • Biography

    Matthäi: Ernst Gottlob M., Bildhauer, geb. 1779 zu Meißen, † 19. April 1842 zu Dresden als Inspector des K. Museums der Gypsabgüsse. Er fertigte die Modelle der theils in Biscuit, theils in glacirtem Porzellan ausgeführten Figuren für den schönen Kamin im K. Grünen Gewölbe zu Dresden. Die Dresdener Mosaik führte nach der Zeichnung des Professor Schenau (richtiger Schönau) der Steinschneider und Hofjuwelier J. Chr. Neuber (1735—1808) 1782 aus.
