  • Biography

    Kortum: Karl Georg Theodor K., Arzt, geb. den 29. Mai 1765 in Dortmund, hatte in Göttingen studirt und daselbst 1785 promovirt. Er habilitirte sich als Arzt zuerst in seiner Vaterstadt, später in Stollberg (bei Aachen), wo er 1790 mit dem Physikate betraut wurde und am 9. Febr. 1847 gestorben ist. Von den zahlreichen Schriften Kortum's (das vollständige Verzeichniß derselben findet sich in Callisen, Med. Schriftsteller-Lexikon X, 346, XXIX, 323) verdient namentlich „Commentarius de vitio scrofuloso etc.“ 2 Tomi 1789—90 (deutsch: „Abhandlung von den Scrofeln etc.“, 2 Bde., 1793), eine mit Sachkenntniß und gesundem Urtheil verfaßte Arbeit hervorgehoben zu werden, welche K. als Concurrenzschrift zur Erlangung des von der königl. Gesellschaft der Aerzte zu Paris ausgeschriebenen Preises bei derselben eingereicht hatte und welche von der Gesellschaft, wenn auch nicht gekrönt, so doch durch das Accessit ausgezeichnet worden ist.
