    Hanau: Johann H., als Buchdrucker in Frankfurt a. O. nachweisbar von 1509—28. Anfangs verlegte er vorzugsweise die Schriften der damals an der neu begründeten Universität versammelten Humanisten, eines Joh. Rhegius, Aesticampianus, Publius Axungia (Schmerlin), Herm. Trebellius u. A. Auch veranstalteten die beiden zuletzt Genannten 1510 in seiner Officin den Druck von Huttens Querelae, an deren Schluß H. sich Hutten's Landsmann (conterraneus) nennt, so daß der Name H. weniger die Familie, als den Ort der Herkunft zu bezeichnen scheint. Später, als die humanistische Richtung an der Universität an Boden verlor, druckte H. auch theologische Werke, wie das „Viaticum Lubucense“ (2 voll. 8. 1513) und mehrere antireformatorische Werke Redorfers und Wimpina's.
