Biography
Goldwitzer: Franz Wenceslaus G., katholischer Theologe, geboren am 29. März 1778 in Bamberg, gestorben 1840 zu Biburg. G. studirte im Seminar in Bamberg, wurde 1805 Priester, 1817 Pfarrer zu Büchenbach bei Erlangen, später zu Biburg in der Diöcese Augsburg. Von seinen fleißigen, aber wissenschaftlich nicht bedeutenden litterarischen Arbeiten sind zu nennen: „Der Prophet Hoschea, übersetzt und erklärt“, 1828; „Compendium dogmaticae catholicae“, 1824, dazu „Bibliographia dogmatica“, 1831; „Bibliographie der Kirchenväter und Kirchenlehrer vom 1. bis 13. Jahrhundert“, 1828; „Patrologie, verbunden mit Patristik“ (bis zum 9. Jahrhundert), 1834.
