Biographical Presentation
Gmelin: Johann Friedrich G., Professor zu Göttingen, Philipp Friedrich Gmelin's ältester Sohn, Vater des Chemikers Leopold G., geboren zu Tübingen am 8. August 1748, gestorben zu Göttingen am 1. November 1804. Im J. 1772 außerordentlicher Professor der Medicin zu Tübingen, folgte er 1775 einem Rufe nach Göttingen als ordentlicher Professor der Philosophie und außerordentlicher Professor der Medicin, wo er 1778 zum ordentlichen Professor der Medicin vorrückte.
