    Ebel: Kaspar E., ein Philosoph des 17. Jahrhunderts, geb. etwa 1595, † 10. März 1664, war anfangs Rector des Gymnasiums zu Worms und darauf Professor der Logik und Metaphysik zu Marburg und Gießen. Hier starb er als Emeritus 69 Jahre alt. E. gehört zu den hervorragendern, protestantischen Aristotelikern; sein „Compendium der peripatetischen Logik“ (Marb. 1645, Gießen 1651 und öfter) stand in so hohem Ansehen, daß man ihm den Namen Cattorum Aristoteles gab. Von den Werken, die Frankfurt 1677, 2 Bde. 4. ed. D. K. Rudrauff erschienen sind, nennen wir: „Commentarius in librum Thomae de ente“ und „Essentia“, eine „Motaphys. pars universalis et specialis“, 1638 und öfter, und „Dispp. XX aphorismorum metaphysicorum recognitorum“.
