Biography
Fabricius: Balthasar F., aus Vacha an der Werra, daher gewöhnlich Balth. Phachus (Phacchus) genannt, wurde im J. 1502 an der Universität Wittenberg immatriculirt; im J. 1507 war er bereits Magister und kündigte Vorlesungen über Vergil's Aeneide, über Valerius Maximus und über Sallust's Bellum Jugurthinum an (vgl. G. Th. Strobel, Neue Beiträge zur Litteratur besonders des 16. Jahrhunderts. Dritten Bandes zweiter Druck, Nürnberg und Altorf 1792, S. 55 ff.). Für das Wintersemester 1517/18 wurde er „Balthasar Fabricius Phacchus ingenuarum artium magister utriusque humanitatis professor“ zum Rector der Universität erwählt. Er scheint in der ersten Hälfte des Jahres 1541 gestorben zu sein, da M. Luther am 10. Juli d. J. schreibt: „Es ist nun die Lection Magistri Fach ledig.“
