Die Familie stammt aus Ips (Österreich), verbreitete sich seit Pantaleon siehe (2) über ganz Deutschland und wanderte zum Teil in die USA aus. Auf Veranlassung von Melanchthon übersetzte Pantaleon den Familiennamen Weiß in C.
