  • Biography

    Aus Meißen an der Elbe stammende Herrnhuter Familie. Johann Friedrich Wilhelm (1743–1823), Justitiar in Herrnhut, hatte die Söhne Carl Wilhelm (siehe unten) und →Friedrich Wilhelm (1774–1840), 1808 Inspektor der Unitäts-Anstalten in Niesky, seit 1835 Bischof der Brüdergemeinde. Dessen Söhne waren →Wilhelm (1803–50), Leiter des theologischen Seminars in Gnadenfeld, und →Rudolph (1810–60), Missionar, Präses der südafrikanischen Mission. Söhne von Wilhelm waren →Paul (1843–1925), Doctor theologiae, Seminardirektor in Gnadenfeld (siehe RGG), und →Wilhelm (1846–1920), Doctor theologiae, Direktor der Deutschen Brüder-Unität.
