    Die aus Herford stammende Familie ist seit 1612 in Bremen ansässig und hat viele bedeutende Kaufleute und Juristen hervorgebracht, u. a. →Albert (1767–1849), 1807 Eltermann, 1811 franz. Munizipalrat, 1813 Mitglied der Handelskammer und Commerzrichter, seit 1816 Senator, sowie →Wilhelm (1796–1879), 1824 span. Vizekonsul für Bremen und Oldenburg, seit 1840 Eltermann im Collegium Seniorum.
