Biographical Presentation
Schmid: Johann S., Vertreter der orthodoxen Theologie in Leipzig, geboren zu Breslau am 19. August 1649, † am 31. Mai 1731. Er studirte|zu Breslau, erlangte 1669 zu Leipzig das Baccalaureat, wurde dort 1670 Magister, 1679 Collegiat im Frauencolleg, 1683 Assessor der philosophischen Facultät, 1685 Professor der Eloquenz und Licentiat, 1699 Doctor der Theologie und 1700 Professor der Theologie. 1716 ward er Assessor des Consistoriums und 1723 Senior. Er gab Schertzer's „Collegium antical vinianum“ heraus und vertheidigte es in 40 Disputationen (s. o. S. 138 und Ranfft, Leben der kursächsischen Gottesgelehrten). Ein ziemlich vollständiges Verzeichniß seiner vielen philosophischen und theologischen Disputationen findet sich bei Jöcher.
