    Carpzov: Johann Benedict C. (III.), Jurist, Sohn des kursächsischen Oberhofpredigers Samuel Benedict C., eines Bruders von August Benedict C., geb. 25. October 1675 zu Dresden. Studirte von 1693 an zu Wittenberg, Frankfurt a./O., Leipzig, promovirte 1700 zu Frankfurt. Er ließ sich als Advocat in Dresden nieder, wurde 1702 Raths-Syndicus zu Zittau, erhielt 1713 den Titel Commissionsrath, wurde einige Jahre darauf zum Bürgermeister von Zittau erwählt und 1731 zum Kreisamtmann in Wittenberg ernannt. Verheirathet 1701 zeugte er sieben Söhne und zwei Töchter. Starb 8. September 1739 an einem Schlagfluß. Schrieb „Analecta Fustorum Zittaviensium“ (1716); „Ehrentempel merkwürdiger Antiquitäten des Margrafthums Oberlausitz (1719); „Praefatio de usu collectaneorum iuridicorum praemissa Promptuario iuris practico“ (1727).
