Seine ältere Schwester Lola und er sind die einzigen Überlebenden seiner Familie ; seine restliche Verwandtschaft wurde von den Nazis und ihren Kollaborateuren während der Shoa ermordet. Seit seiner Befreiung lebt er in den USA und ist dort seit Jahren als Zeitzeuge aktiv ; um seine und die Geschichte seiner Familie zu erzählen. Mit der von ihm gegründeten ZACHORfoundation hält er die Erinnerung an die Shoa und ihrer Opfer aufrecht
