Begründer des Hauses Torlonia ; als Sohn des Landwirts Antoine Tourlonias aus der Auvergne begann er als Kämmerer des Abtes Charles-Alexandre de Montgon ; dem er nach Rom folgte. Dort trat er in die Dienste des Kardinals Troiano Acquaviva d'Aragona (1696–1747) ; der ihm eine kleine Rente vermachte ; mit der er einen Stoffhandel samt Geldverleih unter dem italianisierten Namen Torlonia begründete. Sein Sohn Giovanni Torlonia weitete das Geschäft aus und wurde zu einem der größten Geldgeber des römischen Adels
