  • Biography

    Osiander: Christian Nathaniel O., geb. am 15. Januar 1781, war 1808 Professor am oberen Gymnasium in Stuttgart, 1834 Kreisschulinspector für den Schwarzwaldkreis, 1842 Prälat in Ulm, wo er nach Niederlegung seines Amtes am 13. April 1855 gestorben ist. Er gab seit 1826 mit Tafel und Schwab die „Griechischen und röm. Dichter und Prosaiker in neuen Uebersetzungen“ heraus. Es sind darin folgende Werke von ihm selbst übertragen: „Cicero, Reden"; „Herodian's Gesch. des Kaiserthums"; „Thucydides"; „Birgit, Idyllen und Landbau"; „Xenophon, hellen. Geschichten“.
