  • Biography

    A. war ein vielseitig gebildeter Musiker, der fast alle Instrumente spielte und bis 1860 erfolgreich als Lehrer der Theorie, des Instrumentenspiels und des Gesangs in Hanau und Frankfurt/Main wirkte. Seit dieser Zeit beschäftigte er sich ausschließlich mit akustischen Untersuchungen und der Konstruktion akustischer Apparate, auch von Harmonien mit 36- und 53stufiger Skala reiner Stimmung usw. Dabei trat er mit H. Helmholtz, A. von Oettingen, G. Engel u. a. in nähere Beziehung.
