Biography
1868 übernahm A. das photographische Geschäft seines Vaters, erweiterte es und verlegte sich seit 1882 namentlich auf die Vervollkommnung der Momentphotographie. 1885 ging er zur Darstellung von Menschen und Tieren in Bewegung mit Hilfe von Serienaufnahmen über. Er erfand 1887 einen elektrischen Schnellseher, mit dem zum ersten Mal lebende Bilder auf Grund von Reihenaufnahmen vorgeführt werden konnten. Eine Vorstufe der Kinematographie war erreicht.
