    G. trat 1889 als Volontär bei „Felten & Guilleaume“, Mechanische Hanf- und Wergspinnereien, Bindfaden- und Tauwerkfabriken Köln, ein und übernahm nach einer Auslandstätigkeit 1894 diesen Betrieb des väterlichen Unternehmens. Durch Zweigniederlassungen zu Deichhausen/Weser (1895), in Lauenburg/Elbe (1899) und bei Dillingen/Donau (1900) sowie durch technischen Ausbau der Betriebe brachte er sein Unternehmen an führende Stelle in Deutschland und im Ausland.|
