Biography
Lange: Samuel Gottlieb L., ward am 5. April 1767 zu Ohra bei Danzig geboren, wo sein Vater Prediger war. Aus dem Danziger Gymnasium vorgebildet, studirte er zu Jena, habilitirte sich dort 1795 und hielt theologische und philosophische Vorlesungen. 1795 ward er Adjunkt bei der philosophischen Fakultät. 1796 außerordentlicher Professor der Philosophie, 1798 außerordentlicher Professor der Theologie, folgte jedoch in demselben Jahr einem Rufe als ordentlicher Professor der Theologie und Prediger an der Heiliggeistkirche nach Rostock, wo er am 15. Juni 1825 starb. Er war Anhänger des Kantischen Rationalismus, wie besonders sein „System der theologischen Moral“ (1803) und sein „Versuch einer Apologie der Offenbarung“ (Jena 1794) beweist.
