Biography
Elsholtz: Johannes Sigismund E., Chemiker und Arzt, Dr. med., Leibarzt des Kurfürsten Friedrich Wilhelm, Mitglied der Leopoldin. Akademie, deren Misc. Acad. nat. Cur. die meisten seiner Arbeiten enthält; geb. 26. Aug. 1623 zu Frankfurt a. O., † 28. Febr. 1688 zu Berlin. Erwähnt zuerst 1677 a. a. O. das Leuchten des Flußspaths beim Erwärmen, hat über chemische Vorgänge, die Zusammensetzung der Luft u. s. w. verworrene Vorstellungen, die seiner Zeit um nichts voraus sind.
